Is your costume all ready? We've been working on ours for well over a week (OK, more like fifteen minutes, but hey—we're New Yorkers, we're busy people!). In any case, it looks like there are a few options for you crazy hotel party crashers out there this weekend. From vodka open bars to haunted hotels to a fashion editor-judged costume contest, you certainly won't be twiddling your thumbs!
First up, Hudson Hotel has commissioned the talent of Adam Aleksander to transform the entire hotel into a creepy, crawly, underworld lair. Each of the hotel's three venues (Hudson Hall, Hudson Bar, and Library Bar), in addition to hosting eight separate DJ acts on Saturday night, will morph into different "concepts" like the formaldehyde-ridden Laboratory, Overgrown Swamp, and Butcher's Den.
Scared yet? It only gets better!
Elsewhere on Saturday, the lounge act-loving Carlton Hotel is throwing a "Raise Some Hell" party inside Millesime. Show up in your gear between 9pm and 10pm to be treated to a one-hour vodka open bar. Similarly, the Room Mate Grace Hotel is inviting guests into the Grace Lounge for a vodka open bar from 10pm–11pm.
Technically, if you plan this right, you could wind up hitting both hotel parties for a sweeeeet two-hour open bar. Don't thank us, thank the bartenders!
Much further downtown, inside The Hotel On Rivington, Co-Op is throwing a "Candyland" party featuring costumes and decor by the Hotel Mistress herself: Patricia Field. Economy Candy will provide the nibbles (so be willing to soar into a sugar high) and look out for a musical performance by Sarah Charness, "the electric violinist" (wonder if the Z Hotel knows anything about this gal?)
Finally, for the extremely creative, hard-working, crafty Halloween-ers among you, who have actually spent time on their costumes, W New York's "Halloween Social" might just be the party for you. Fashion bigshots like Michael Musto (Village Voice), Mickey Boardman (Paper Mag) and Sheena Smith (Teen Vogue) will be sitting on the judges panel while guests strut their stuff, sip free Zyr Vodka cocktails, and dance to a DJ set by Chris Baio from Vampire Weekend (above).
