Sneak a Peek at the Shelborne's Vesper Cafe & Brasserie

As you can see from this shot we snapped yesterday, there's lots going on at the Shelborne Beach Resort. The hotel's renovations are under way, and according to hotelier Keith Menin, right on track for the hotel's big reopening on November 30.
Finishing touches were still being added to the guest rooms, so we can't show you those just yet but we can tell you that they are smart, light and beachy with tons of natural light and simple, modern spins on the classic Deco hotel room. As Menin himself says, the idea is to create "a great, beachy, fun hotel" that will appeal to all kinds of travelers.
A laidback beachfront, poolside eatery, Lucy's Cantina Royale will help spread this good cheer to anyone strolling by and will be a place where you can grab a $6 taco or two and not feel like you're being ripped off.
And for something a little more upscale that you can dress up for, there's Vesper's Cafe & Brasserie. Here's a sneak peek...

Vesper consists of two rooms, starting with this retro-cool-looking cafe, which will also have outdoor seating overlooking the newly revamped pool deck. The cafe will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, serving breakfast, coffee and other light fare.
To see where the James Bond influence comes into play (Vesper being from Casino Royale, of course), you'll have to be escorted through the kitchen into the brasserie...

This is a dark, clubby bar and restaurant where guests will be able to enjoy cocktails or dinner in a very glam, retro setting. The Brasserie will be open from 6–11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and close at 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. There will be a resident DJ and a late-night menu offered from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Menin said he wanted to create an exclusive and intimate space that was "rich, dark and sexy" and we can already tell that this is going to be one of the beach's next big hotspots.
We'll bring you more on the Shelborne reopening as the November 30 reopening gets closer. We reckon you can count on there being one heck of a celebration to mark the occasion, too. Back in 2005, the Miami Beach Sun Post called Menin's opening party for the Sanctuary Hotel the best of the year. We expect nothing less for his latest baby.
