Uma Bharti says will respect BJP but won't leave Jhansi

New Delhi: Rubbishing speculations about her candidature against Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti on Friday said that she will only contest from Jhansi. "I will do what the party says but I will not leave Jhansi," she said.
Baba Ramdev, who has been supporting the BJP and is very close to several top party leaders, had suggested that Uma Bharti should take on Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli.
There were reports that the BJP would field the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister against Sonia in Raebareli while its combative spokesperson Smriti Irani would take on Rahul Gandhi in Amethi.
Baba Ramdev, who has been supporting the BJP, had suggested that Uma Bharti should take on Sonia Gandhi in Raebareli.
Sources said that the party felt that Bharti will give a strong fight to the Congress President.
The BJP, however, has relented. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the party had taken the decision to let Bharti contest from Jhansi alone.
