The days pass slowly but the years past fast is a well-worn parenting mantra, because it is so true. And that is why birthdays are so important to celebrate. Four years ago, as nature burst into new life, I created new life of my own and my second daughter was born. We named her after a flower that blooms in Spring. birthday party planner in gurgaon

Fittingly, "Miss J" requested a Spring Garden theme for her party this year. 12 of her friends gathered at our home to celebrate. I had a fabulous time theming and styling the event. Here's how you can create a spectacular garden party that would suit a boy or girl and it won't break the bank.
The Setting
Naturally, the ideal setting for a garden theme is in a garden but you could easily bring the outdoors in. The party guests sat at several kids' tables joined up to make one long table. I covered the tables in white paper and created a "grass" table runner with green felt that I bought from a craft shop.
The Decorations
The beauty of a garden theme is you don't really have to go out and create a garden. Extra elements can be as few or as many as you like. I decorated the garden with a couple of butterfly buntings and used balloons, a fairy castle, ladybird toys and pinwheels to complement the theme.
Table Styling
On top of the grass runner I scattered moss rocks and circle branch cuts. I placed fairies and ladybirds on top of the branch cuts and we created our own "pixie dust" by collecting petals from the garden and filling small jars. I spread leaves and flowers over the table, and each table setting included a pretty flower and name pegged to the serviette.
The party food
There are lots of options for party food within a garden theme and this selection would also suit a bugs theme. The spread included:
Cupcakes decorated with buttercream and fondant flowers. I also made Toadstool cupcakes by dying the buttercream red and placing inverted white chop chips and ladybirds on top.
It's easy to turn strawberries into ladybirds. Simply dip the strawberries in melted chocolate, allow to set slightly and then attach eyes. Pipe chocolate dots on top of strawberries and you're done!
The caterpillar fruit sticks were a hit! Simply thread grapes onto a bamboo skewer, top with a cherry tomato and attach the eyes with icing paste. I made the eyes by piping white chocolate buttons onto baking paper and then placing cachous in the centre.
Birthday Cake
Creating a showstopper of a cake meant I had to prepare early. I made two butter cakes in advance and froze them. I made the fondant shapes a week prior to the party.
I assembled and iced the cake with green buttercream the night before, draping it in white fondant and attaching pretty flowers, dragonflies and ladybirds. The beauty of adding fondant shapes is it conceals any errors. I topped with a bunting and her name.
The verdict
The Garden Party was a huge hit and Miss J's face shone with happiness. That night, as she collapsed into bed with a full heart and a full tummy, she locked eyes with mine and whispered: "Thank you for the great party, Mama"… and then she was asleep.
