Editorial Review of Maruti YBA iV4
Thanks to the stringent government taxation rules, the Indian car MARKET
has seen the uprising of unseen segments, such as compact sedans and compact SUV/Crossovers. The fierce competition from rivals due to rise in sales of compact crossovers and SUVs has forced the market leader Maruti Suzuki to prepare its first compact SUV.
For the time being, the new compact SUV has been code-named as YBA, which is going under testing procedures by Maruti Suzuki. The compact SUV will be under the crucial mark of 4 meters, in order to get benefited from additional taxes. The YBA will borrow design cues from both the XA-Alpha and XiV concepts, and will be designed on the lines of Vitara, which has already been unveiled by Suzuki in some international MARKETS
.
Unlike most of the other offerings from Maruti Suzuki, the interiors of YBA will have more flair and will be kitted out heavily. For India, the YBA is supposed to house two engine options under its hood - a 1.4 liter K14 petrol and 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine which are already doing duty on the midsize sedan Ciaz. The YBA is expected to be launched in the second half of 2015, with the likes of Ford Ecosport and Hyundai iX25 in its crosshairs.
