Khattar orders review of Hooda's decisions, says no vendetta politics

CHANDIGARH: A day after two Haryana ministers said a judicial probe would be ordered into land deals during the previous Congress regime, especially those concerning Robert Vadra, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said there would be no vendetta in this but the law would take its own course.

Asked about the Change of Land Use (CLU) related decisions of the previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda government and investigation concerning Vadra's land deals, Khattar said: "My government would not act with the spirit of vendetta. The priority of the state government is to implement its agenda aimed at the welfare of people of the state."

Khattar's comments are being seen as a softening of stand of the new BJP government on the land scams during the Hooda regime. The land scams were a major issue raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party during the poll campaign.

Two senior ministers, Ram Bilas Sharma, who is also the Haryana BJP president, and Anil Vij, on Sunday said a judicial probe would be ordered into the land scams. Khattar has also announced review of all decisions of the Hooda regime after May 16, the day Lok Sabha election results were declared. He also announced that all ongoing recruitment would be stopped at once.

After his first cabinet meeting, Khattar said: "The Haryana government would review all the announcements and decisions pertaining to appointments or recruitments made after May 16 by the previous government."

He said the cabinet also decided to stop all ongoing recruitment with immediate effect. "All cases of re-employment made during the regime of the previous government would be re-examined. I have asked to prepare a list of such re-employment so as to take further action in the next cabinet meeting".

The Hooda government had resorted to large-scale sops to all sections, including government staff, senior citizens, women, youth and others after May 16 after the Congress fared badly in the Lok Sabha polls.
